Prom yeah woo

Yay we went to the prom and it was AWESOME! I just thought it would be me and B for a while there, but it turned out to be a major fiesta. Camping on the ring road between wombat tents didn't seem like the best place to be, but we sure made it that way. Lots of drinking and smoking and playing and canoe trips. 31st and 33rd avenue were closed cos of all the damage from 'those' storms. Pkus the fact that it was packed anyway so we just ahd to stay where Steve had been the few days before but it turned out to be rocking.

St. Kilda festival adventure number one. Eri decided it was my mission to organise the Friday night of the festival 'cos it had been so much fun dancing to The Cat Empire on the pier last year. This year it was salsa with lessons and a band. But as usual it was geared towards couples, so Skippa didn't get a dance. Most of the night ended up involving drinking on the beach, interspersed with trips to the Espy. The Herd were playing, but not till late and I had to got ot work. As I do every Saturday. So unfortunately I couldn't stay. At the last minute before we left I had a stress out that I would eb over .05 'cos there were so many cops around, pulling people over every ten seconds. Eri's drunk reasoning told me I was fine and I believed her, which probably says something a bout the state I was in anyway. But just to make sure we went in to the Espy to see if we could find one of those disposable breath testers. Instead we found this kick ass band called Illzilla. We rocked out to them for a while, but hen went back to the car and drove home incident free. The next night Ev, Burl, Liz and I went to see TZU at the Northcote Social club and who should be supporting but.... Illzilla. So that was cool we got to see a full set. Nice venue. Never been before, fairly new, apparently owned by old Punters crowd and Corner. Big expectations. We sat around reminiscing about the old Punters' days with some local dude. Good times. Also I saw Auls who I hadn't for ages so that was cool. Ended up being entirely wasted, so unlike me these days, and had a really awesome time. That TZU really are amazing. The couldn't have been one girl in the room who wasn't liquid when Joel went in to his deep soul love song. mmmm mmmm. Ended the night back at my place, don't know if that was such a good idea. We had such a big day planned for the festival on Sunday. 

Chris built a great table so we could drink, be comfortable and play queens cup. That Mr X he's a genius!

Ma!, The rains are comin'

Well, serves me right I guess for enjoying the awesome weather we were having and bragging about it to all you kids who aren't here for it. Retribution was dispensed with 26% of our annual rainfall falling in just over 24 hours. The ground was saturated through and massive winds tore out trees, taking down power lines and telephone wires. Traffic lights were out and water flooded the roads. All this rain had to go somewhere and guess where? The Diamond Creek of course! They had to let out water from the Winneke dam and it all overflowed into my backyard. My bedroom narrowly escaped a drenching. We did see a platypus which was very exciting. I was very worried about it though. It was so frustrating that there was absoloutly nothing anyone could do. Now we just have to deal with the silt over everything. Another tree fell into my pond today as well. I just hope the weatehr picks up into summer again for the next trip to the prom.

At 8.30am. 

Nothing looked like it was going to be too serious. It was exciting that the river had broken its' banks. But the sun was shining and it had stopped raining ages ago. So off I went to work. At 12.00 I got a call asking if there was anything in particular I needed moved off my floor. 

The fantastic friends I have who came to my rescue before I could get home from work. 

The water reached its peak around 12.30 and stayed there for about an hour before slowly starting to receed.
