Love of the Bumper

I crashed my car! On the way to work the guy in front of me was turning right. He started to go, but unbeknownst to me he stopped. Meanwhile I kept on going looking to the traffic on my right and BAM! Well I though
I had braked just in time to not connect, but when we continued on our way he shook his fist. That right he shook his fist. So I pulled over and as it turned out I had actually hit him. When we looked at his car he was all smug and "Well I wonder what it did to your car?" Cos his was fine. But -sucker- mine was fine too. Turns out our bumper bars just fell in love and wanted to knock boots.

La la la!

I finally went to see the Kylie exhibition on Thursday. It was quite an experience, but also to see that they really are lifeless without the Diva inside them. The costume design sketches and those of the stageing were a highlight. Those and the white number from "Can't Get You Out of My Head". I could have stayed for hours watching the videos too. Clips in the main room and then in the backstage area footage from making the tours. Very insightful. Don't worry though guys, soon my outfits will be on display in the arts centre too, or maybe at the national gallery. Clearly not because I've worn them though.

Close to two hours it took us to get to the top. Full on vertical at the end bit, pulling yourself along a chain. But we made it in the end, with Britney intact. My calves were killing me for days after though. The boys were fine which is so unfair. I have a scientific excuse though. Guys are five times stronger than girls at the same level of fitness so thats what it was.  Posted by Hello

The view fromthe top of Mount Warning. So beautiful, and you'd like to say worth the effort to get there. This is the first place the sun touches Australia so the idea is to be there for it. Not us though. It was enough effort to try and get there before sunset. Posted by Hello

Buuuuuuush turkey! These thing were everywhere. They liked to trash out campsite, throw everything on the ground and break outr mugs. This one is at the top of Mount Warning. Posted by Hello

Now that this blog has decided to work again I can let you know how awesome Byron was. Pretty. Awesome that is. For the much anticipated photos check out this site . Not much to look at really if you weren't there. Just a long serious of drunken nights out. But hey. That's pretty much what it was. Not actally up at time of posting, but hopefully by tomorow.

Headin Off

Byron Bay for Blues Fest 2005. Flew up with Heath to meet Andrew and Lachie at Coolangatta airport, swam at Kirra beach then drove down the coast to saty at Brunswick Heads for the night. Met these crazy kids Tige and Corell. Fun for the first five minutes- then really annoying. Their poor lizard thta was their "pet. They liked to pat it really hard. The poor thing was scared out of its brain. They had to shake it to wake it up.
We camped right onthe Brunswick River, named after a German princess. Fishing with a stingray circling our ankles over looking a disused oyster farm. Lachie had his canoe so we all had a go of that too. Started our many visits to the pub at the Hotel Bruswick, drinking schooners and avoiding Tooheys. Some chick, who came trying to sell us cdrugs the next day, was wasted and took her top off on the stage in front of everyone trying to eat their dinner. Didn't have my camera with me on that one unfortunately.

Byron

The next day was when the party really got started and heade into Byron. Stayed ina great camping spot on Clake's Beach. Andrew, Heath and me squashed into a tent, just 'cos Andrew was too lazy to set up his own. Every night "Aw, maybe I should set up my tent" but it never happened. We didn't spend much time at our site anyway. Every morning walk the 50m or so to the beach for the refreshing Pacific Ocean. Then breakfast in this little enclosed Quenslander style bbq area which even had a kettle, toaster and microwave to use. Then a bit of sitting out on the balcony watching the crystal blue waves, the boys perving on the surf school chicks and just the chicks in general. All talk and no action those boys. Andrw made headway on the last couple of nights though, but the friend was leeting her have a bar of it (get it?). Most of our days started this way, alittle slower when we went crazy at the pub with schooners and shots. So much pub action.

Andrew and Lachie had tix for the fest for Saturday to Monday, but Heath and I only had Monday and after seeing how much fun they had on the Saturday we decided we had to go on Sunday too. Well I did and Heathe didn't have any choice. I wasn't going to be in Byron Bay and miss out on seeing The Waifs and The Cat Empire who I was totally on board with again after seeing them with eri at the POW. The only thing was how we would get tickets. Plenty of people were selling them around the place, but at prices we weren't going to pay. We got a hot tip from a local though that they were selling them at the Blues Fest office just down the road so we went to the pub, then walked down there. Lachie was convinced it was 'just around the corner' then after about an hour we got there to find it shut with a notice on the door saying Thursday tix only. As it was friday this wasn't much help to use. So we decided to continue on down the road all the way tothe festival site just to check it out. Lucky we did cos we found that there were tix on sale every day, but only for that day, opening 10am.
So Sunday morning we had a mission. After pikeing early Saturday night deciding at twleve we couldn't go in to town and then being woken up again by the others coming home, we had put out clocks forward for the end of daylight savings and set the alarm to get up , get Lachie to drive us to the site, buy our tickets, come home and probably go swimming. But nothing witht these guys tends to run smoothly. After being slow any way we got to the box office at 10 to 10. Or was it? No it wasn't! It was 10 to 8. We'd gone th wrong way with the time and gotten way ahead of ourselves. Lucky though, cos although we had to wait there for two hours we were the second group in a line that ended up being huge and not everyone was going to get the tickets. So it all worked out fine in the end.

The Festy

The Festival was awesome. We didn't get there on Saturday to see some acts that would have ben alright, but I got to see The Waifs, I know unhealthy to see a band that many times, but i I do love them. Made a new favourite on the night in the most unlikely of nasaly places- Kasey Chambers. I didn't think I even knew any of her songs but Sahy and I were singing our litle hearts out. Hilarious! Then Cat Empire, my othe rnew favourites. They really are superstars. They absoloutely rocked out and the crowd loved them. It's tempting to call them sell outs but they are just so good at what they do you can't not like them. Then a bit of a mix of The Wailers and John Butler Trio to finish ofthe night before the walk home. Sunday was a big day, beginning with quick bloody mary's at the Beach Hotel with Shay before heading out again for the only reason Shay was in Byron at all- Cake. And they were shit. They started late, played about five songs and just when you thought you were getting into it they were done. Really quite a poor effort for the amount of people who had gotten there by 12.45 to see them. Much music and beer and sun followed finished off by REM. I wasn't really that interested to actually see them, just to say that I had, but I really enjoyed it. As you would only expect if they hadn't been here since '95 they played heaps of hits, plus some new ones. Just chilling on the hill behind the tent. It was so good to see them putting in effort to a show which they essentially could have just breezed through.
All in all an awesoem way to have a holiday, it's just lucky that I have today off to recover.
