It's Gold!

Thanks to everyone who came to The Prom last weekend for making my birthday so fun. You are all hilarious. And thanks for the blessing father Mark, and also to Lachie for the communion "gingerbread men".I still can't get over how good the weather was, especially after this week. Hot then cold, then warm, then freezing. To get two days of beautiful warm sunshine must have really been the gods smiling down at me. (And of course it's all about me.) It was the first time I've been down since the fire thoug, so it was amazing to see the damage it had done, but also the life that's coming back already. We always say we want a fire to sweep through making it impossible for us to leave at the end of our holiday, but this one came so close to the camp. It would have been really scary. Oberon looks like Mordor and the Loo-ern track doesn't exist anymore. Before it turns green again we absouloutly have to climb Oberon, and Ramsey for that matter, but to be able to see the other side of that mountain in this state would be amazing. Unfortunately booze and laziness always seem to catch up with me down there, and all I got to do on that front was drive to the carparka nd get out and have a look around. Next time I promise.
To extend my birthday celebrations Dalmy stylee I'm going to the soccer on Monday night to see the Melbourne Victory take on the NZ Knights. I think all The Jones' should come along, and anyone else who's interested. I've never been to a real sports event just as a spectator before, so I'm very excited. I still don't really understand this whole off side rule, and I've got no idea who any of the players are, but we're working on that. So get on down to Olympic park Monday night!

Pheoow.

What can be said about this past weekend? Maybe Happy Birthday Jessie, Happy Birthday Pete, Goodbye Soak and Hello to a world of drunkeness. I think that will suffice.

Smiling at Strangers

I bought the new TZU album today and already I love it! Plus I got a bonus t-shirt to go with it. Can't go wrong there. Unless it's a boy t-shirt and baggy. "But you can just whip around it on the machine right?" well. right I could. But that sounds a bit like work, and if I actually buy, or get for free, clothes, I don't want to have to fix them. But i would do it for you tzu. Really is a great second album, branching out a little. Into a sort of music that i can really dig though, which is cool. It's not very often that when you like one bands kid of music, that they're e into another sort of music that you like, especially hiphoppers. They're all like "hip hop, yeah!" and stuff. So I"m going to go and see them again on Friday at the Ev. Haven't been to a gig there for ages either, so it should be fun.
I have a trivia question for you- "What biblically named pub in Fitzroy can be found directly opposite the 'labour in vain'?" (4,2,7)

Clearly it's the Perse right? Well not according to the letters 4 2 7. I have come up with Land of Promise, but clearly this place doesn't exist. I think the paper got it wrong, clearly they're not as cool as me, but if anyone is cooler than me and they know the answer let me know.

Punctuation is a funny thing isn't it. I have no idea how to use it, but I go through phases, such as now I love "quotation marks", just in case you hadn't noticed. I remember in grade 5 Ms. Turpin doing that verbal quotation mark business with her fingers. We all thought it was hilarious. Those boney alien fingers curling around the words. We also did philosophy in that class. I don't remember that. All I can envisage is sitting on our chairs in a circle, not at our desks. Now that's alternative thinking.

As well as buying a CD today I went to the physio, did half a day of work, donated blood and then just ate a whole lot of lasagne for Lena's birthday dinner. All in all a very productive day me thinks.

Britney's Baby Name Revealed
POSTED: 9:21 am PDT September 14, 2005

Britney Spears and her husband, Kevin Federline, say they're "ecstatic" over the birth of their baby boy.

"We are ecstatic to announce the birth of our son! Everyone is happy, healthy and doing wonderful. Thank you for all your love and well wishes!!" the couple said in a statement posted on Spears' Web site.
And since Access Hollywood was the first to report the birth on Wednesday, it's only fitting we give you even more new details about Britney's baby!
Britney and Kevin have named their baby Sean Preston and he weighed in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces.
Britney arrived to the UCLA hospital at 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning under heavy police escort with husband Kevin by her side. About an hour and a half later, mom Lynne and lil' sister Jamie Lynn showed up.
As far as her hospital accommodations – how does $20,000 per night sound?
A source tells Access that in addition to the pop star's fifth floor $3,000/night room that has a tented balcony, her family and security team take up an additional seven rooms on the floor.
The source also said that the healthy baby boy was born at 12:57 p.m. and that Britney's C-section scar is very small and very low.
Britney also has a private chef in a kitchen adjacent to her hospital suite that is there to make whatever she requests.
The rest of Britney's baby breakdown – Sean Preston has a head full of dark curly hair and mom Britney has begun breastfeeding.

It's a boy!

Britney and Kevin announce birth of son on website; they are 'ecstatic'

Canadian Press
September 15, 2005

NEW YORK (AP) - Britney Spears, who sang "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman," is now a mother - and she's "ecstatic" about it.
"We are ecstatic to announce the birth of our son! Everyone is happy, healthy and doing wonderful. Thank you for all your love and well wishes!!" Spears and her husband, Kevin Federline, said in a statement posted on the singer's website.
The baby was born Wednesday by caesarean section at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif., with Federline by Spears' side in the delivery room, Us Weekly magazine reported.
No other details were available. A phone call by The Associated Press to Spears' publicist Thursday wasn't immediately returned.
Spears' website includes an option for fans to "Send Your Best Wishes" to the couple. The proclamation, "It's a Boy!" sits beneath a photo of Spears and Federline kissing.
The baby is the first child for the 23-year-old pop star and Federline, 27, who has two children with ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson.
On Thursday, Spears released her new fragrance, Fantasy. She says it was created with "all kinds of enchanting scents" including "lush red lychee" and even a "hint of cupcakes, white chocolate and jasmine."

There are some new photos up now, but we've lost some older ones. If anyone has a problem with this I suggest you beat up Ev. He knows everything about computers, so when something goes wrong it's obviously his fault.
Right?

Just got back from Sydney and still have that hating to be home feeling. Arriving home at 11pm and being at work at nine the next morning probably wasn't the best way of avoiding this. No buffer period. Had a great time though sunshine, swimming, walking, shopping, drinking, eating. A thoroughly good time. I got to see the amazing house Marcus has built too. It's so incredibly beautiful. Photos just can't do it justice, but I look forward to the day when it is discovered by vogue living. If anyone can make it work I'm sure they could. My photos can give you a bit of an idea at least.

From one adventure to the next though- what about my birthday? I'm struggling to think of a theme for dressing up so send me a line if you've got any ideas. In case you've forgotten it's the weekend of October 1st and 2nd. Everyone is invited. It'll be great!

Not so perfect anymore

As you can see i have a massive kankle. It is without a doubt the most pain I've ever been in. I went up for a massive header at soccer and came down on the side of my foot and an audible crack. Even the ref heard it. After multiple profanities i had to be 'stretchered' off, but 'cos we only had four players to start we had to forfeit if I couldn't go on. I had to lay down on the bench even. My ears were ringing with that floaty pre pass- out buzz and then I felt like I was going to throw up. Gee was it bad. Now is not a good time to not be able to walk either, or dance for that matter. Big party for eri's going away on Saturday, everyone's invited, and then on to a plane on Wednesday for a holiday in Sydney. I'm sure that will play havoc on the old inflamation.

Add to that the fact that now I'm homw alone, no Passions to keep me company, that bloody heartbeat, no mobile reception, still have to sort that one out, no calls to mobiles from one home phone, no anything from the other and it doesn't make for a very pleasant day so far. It will definitely be a good weekend though. Warm days, no work( unexpectedly), partying it up on Saturday and then two footy grannies at Whitten oval starting 8.30 Sunday. Should be a ripper!

I'm finding it more and more ridiculous how out of control I can get myself without too much effort. I don't know what happens to me every now and then, but I can go through extended periods of hermitude, remaining very conservative and controlled and then- BAM! I'm off and nothing can stop me. I guess it's got a lot to do with work. When I'm busy I knuckle down and can't afford to spend any time doing anything but the project at hand and as soon as that's responsibility is gone it's ON. Needless to say I'm on a bit of a rampage at the moment, but don't expect it to last too long.

Yay dress ups! Posted by Picasa

Hmmm

I my new regime of drinking often and in excess i set Myself a new benchmark on Saturday - twelve hours straight. Gee I'm a bogan aren't I. That was a rhetorical question. I didn't want you to answer it! I caught up with Ev at the pub for a few beer about 3ish. I must not have seen him for a really long time 'cos he commented on my hair colour and it's been the same for a while now, hasn't it? Then Pete joined us and then Liz and Tars and then just Liz and I -the stayers. So off we went to the bottle shop to pick up a slab and some of those premixed shots business. Man they were bad, but my sister drank one so they must be for the kids.
Then we started going throught the dress ups for the circus party Heath had been kind enough to invite me to, and I in turn invited Liz. So Heath and B came over to access my vast array of costumes and we spent the next few hours getting ready and waiting for Lachie and Len to come pick us up. Gee we looked great by the time we got there. And yes I was dressed as the girl who rides the ponies. Thanks for noticing. So we spent the evening drinking and dancing and fighting- you may or may not remember that Elizabeth- and finished off some time after three. And then spent the next day watching Viva La Bam and generally not thinking too much. Next Saturday is out tot he Corner for TZU an The Vascoe Era so it will probably happen again, and then next week I'm off to Sydney. I hope I'm still alive for my birthday. By the way 1st and 2nd of October at the Prom, theme to be decided, BE THERE!

First stop in the inaugrual damming trip was that old favourite- Sugarloaf Reservoir. That's right, the place of picnics and sailboats and a freezing cold, icy wind blowing in from the hills. Interesting fact to note about this dam, that it is pumped from both the Yarra river and the Maroondah aqueduct. There are also curious little concrete box thingys on the wall of the dam.  Posted by Picasa

I'm not sure if you're aware, but Elizabeth and I are now certified damologists. The weekend found us begin our new mission in life- to visit every dam of the Melbourne water catchment. There are the big ones you all know and love of course, but we want to get to know the less prolific, yet no less crucial, dams of our city also. The trips may be sporadic, but if you are intereste din joining us on our quest let us know and we can include you in our adventure alerts. Posted by Picasa

If I get drunk tonight please don't let me near my phone.

If someone stumbled on to this site without knowing me or my friends they'd probably think we were a sporty bunch. Watching football on the weekends, playing indoor soccer and actually winning trophys. Little do they know. They would also think that we were rather odd in general, but that's not so far off the mark. Posted by Picasa

The theme for this weeks footy was medieval with the emphasis on capes. Unfortunately due to the huge night at Ding Dongs this didn't really eventuate. Suprisingly Brett was the one who went to the most effort, with his scrap of camo canvas tucked into the back neck of his shirt. The Creekers fare better than last week beating Corio by more than 110 points.  Posted by Picasa

Last week for Liz's footy in Heidelberg the theme was overalls. Stripes then became a factor for the added piratey touch.

Quite cold and windblown, but we withstood the conditions to see our beloved Creekers go down for the first time this season. We know it'll be the last. Posted by Picasa

Shortest day was fun. The fire was huge and so hot. It rained a bit, but it was hot enough not to bother us too much. Well done to everyone who made the effort to dress up. Special shout out to B in the shortest shorts of the night. Posted by Picasa

Crappy photo, but we went to the taping of Spicks and Specks. The special ARIA hall of fame episode. We sat right down the front and had lots of laughs. It was pretty disappointing watching it on tv the next week. So much editing. Next time I don't think I'll watch any shows I've witnessed live. Was a fun evening though. Thanks to B and Steve and to Julianne for getting us the tix. Posted by Picasa

BIG SMASH! Right outside my house. We heard this huge rumble, rumble, smash, car brakes, smash, air brakes, smash. A truck lost its load of girders coming around the bend and cars went flying everywhere. SMASH!! I had to call 000 to get the cops and an ambulance there. While we were waiting i started to direct the traffic to turn around. Then I continued up to Mt Pleasant and got the cars to turn up there. I felt very official, people in cars adhering to my traffic directions. Then when the cops finally got to where I was I had to run official police business back to the bike cop. Really it was just his camera. But it made me feel even more important. Now, probably half an hour later, there's still cranes and flashing lights and cops. Definitely my fill of excitement for the day. I'm glad I'm not driving home in this traffic now.

 Posted by Hello

It was indeed a goat friendly event. Goats and kids and dogs and horses and bobbys and streakers. Posted by Hello

What an incredibly fun day. So much beer and footy and winter sunshine. It is worth waiting all yeah for. Our beloved megahertz destroyed the rock dogs in a game which I'm sure was of a very high standard. There were plenty of other things to keep our eyes and minds busy though. What started off as one of the coldest mornings of the year turned out to be a gorgeous day, and what with all the sporting prowess being displayed it got quite warm indeed. How B managed to kick a footy and clamber over fences in that dress all day I don't know. I hope everyone had a smuch fun as I did (although I was paying for it today), and those who didn't come you better hope the venue is big enough for us all next year. Posted by Hello

LEt me tell you somehting for free. Don't bother with three, it's a pile of crap. So angry right now. After a happy game of soccer, which ended in a draw, followed by a few beers, then home. Had to call a few people to sort out some fittings for the weekend. But no. My phone wouldn't let me. I actually did have reception, but all it did was beep at me. I calle dthe freakin' call centre, they ddidn't know what was going on. They said the SIM card must be faulty, so I have to go to a shop tomorow- you know in al my spare time- and get a new one. I have no voicemail and I can't set it up without the phone working so I have to organise a divert, which costs me. I tell you what this outsourcing of call centre is breeding racism. If I have to deal with another overly polite and interested in my day Indian I swear I don't know what I'll do. So in short if you can't get me on my phone call the landline. That may not help either though as there is no answer machine there since we switched the phone to hook up with engin. I would be happy if everyone just communicate dthrough emails at this stage. But we all know how many problems that can cause. Just come visit

The Jones'

I know i missed a big chunk of info on the soccer results and prelims and stuff but........screw that 'cos we just won the grand final!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a bad win either, 5-2. Lucky thatw as just our pre- season training, now it's time to get serious. New uniforms, striped socks and all thing piratey included. Unfortunately we've lost Big Wellsy to the perils of Asia, and Saxon to the perils of drunken family adventures up tall buildings, but we'll just have to keep trucking on regardless. Well done again to everyone on the team.
Signing off

The Jones'

Yay! We won our quater finals in soccer! Semis here we come. I thinkl we can get ourselves some trophy action again. Not bad for having played only five, or something, games before finals even started. Congratulations to B for her brilliantly executed golden goal. 20 seconds in to overtime. Nice one, bit of a stealth move. Next game is 7.40 Thursday. Be there with pom poms to cheer us on.
